• What Happened To TTD?

    ttdftf

TTD fans, don't be afraid.  The concepts and ideas behind the Trash the Dress movement have evolved into a new website which will allow us to broaden our scope a bit.  From the beginning, we've encouraged brides and grooms to show their love for each other through an uninhibited photo shoot.  We've encouraged couples to plan a time when they could escape the stress of the wedding day with a fun, fashionable session- and the response has been amazing.  When couples are able to flaunt without worrying about getting a spot or two on their attire-  the experience and results are so much better.  Now, we'll use this new website as a way to show off extraordinary galleries of TTD sessions, engagement sessions, wedding details, and more!

It's never been about destruction.  It's always been about creation.  With that in mind, we felt we needed a new identity that focused more on the creation.  In the end,  it really doesn't matter what you call it-  as the image usually speaks loudest.  Welcome to the now,  and we can't wait to see you flaunt it!

Deborah & Glen flaunt in Paris

Contributed by Anna and Spencer Photography

Spencer and I shot Deborah & Glen’s wedding at a chateau a few hours outside of Paris. Two days after their wedding, we went out around Paris to capture some images. It was drizzling on and off – the overcast sky made a wonderful moody atmosphere. As we traveled around the city, we were able to convince the Deborah that the subway was a great idea (both for transportation and for the resulting images). Our 14mm lens was invaluable: we were able to get close enough to  Notre Dame in order to exclude the tourists (and there were a lot)  and, at the same time, it was wide enough to capture the entire
building.

Trash the Dress shoot in Münster (Hawerkamp, Harbour & Halle Münsterland) Part 1
Earlier this month we have had with Canan & Alex a Trash the Dress shoot in Munster.

Nadine and I have found by chance the time before Fitted Hawerkamp site in Munster, and as I was clear “where I have to make even a Trash the Dress shoot. When we Canan & Alex then told at the preliminary meeting of this location, the two were excited directly. Furthermore, we have then at the port and in front of the Halle Münsterland (Where we have made two really wet) took pictures.

Adam and Lisa Flaunt in an Outdoor Shower

Contributed by Andre Carriere

These were taken the day after their wedding, Some of my favorite Trash the dress shots so far. My Fav has to be the ones of the Bride in the outdoor shower. We were walking around during the shoot and I saw these outdoor showers with the blue tiles and thought “wide angle shot with the couple in there and water running”. I climbed up the shower wall and stood on top shooting down at them with my 10mm lense on. I love the blue backdrop especially with the curved walls. I did some slight color enhancing on the blue for some more dramatic look. I hope you enjoy.

Thanks Guys,
These were taken in Punta Cana, DR. Adam and Lisa were amazing to work with and game for anything. We started the shoot on the beach, then took them in the Ocean, played beach volleyball, put them in the showers, went to the pool bar, and ended the shoot underwater. We captured some great shots.
Thank you Adam and Lisa!

Prince Edward Island TTD Collaboration

This past April, three of Halifax, Nova Scotia’s most creative wedding photographers traveled to Prince Edward Island for a Trash the Dress project.

Jeff Cooke of Jeff Cooke Photography (http://www.jeffcookephotography.ca), Liam Hennessy of Applehead Studio (http://appleheadstudio.com) and Heather Crosby-Gionet of This is Photography (http://www.thisisphotography.ca) collaborated with some of the Island’s incredibly talented artists, musicians and business owners – all of whom went above and beyond to bring to life the artistic vision of these impressive photographers.   With two cars packed to the rafters with gear, the trio headed first to Summerside, PEI. It was here they  partnered with Katharina’s Bridal Boutique (http://www.katharinasbridalboutique.com) for their first shoot, which, due to disagreeable weather, turned the beautiful shop into a studio. On a tight schedule, with 7 Trash the Dress shoots scheduled for just one day , everyone worked quickly. Concepts became reality and simple one light setups become complicated 5 light equations that ended with the photographers tripping over each other to get that perfect shot. The first half of the day was completed with a bride rocking a black wedding dress. She chose to use her original white wedding dress to set aflame – partially  inspired by John Michael Cooper’s famous shot that sparked the Trash the Dress trend in wedding photography.

The second half of the day was spent  with Charlottetown models, artists and business owners. The location was almost back to Summerside, but was the perfect place for the shoot. Down one photographer, snow falling, freezing temperatures and daylight behind us, Liam and Jeff improvised. They shot the easy-going brides inside the loft of a very old barn complete with collapsed roofing and racoons. Many of the Island’s talented and inspiring artists volunteered their talents to the project.

As the East Coast of Canada is known for it’s tremendous hospitality, the shoot ended with home cooked chowder, Traditional live music in the living room, great laughs and great company.

some of the attic shots were amatour like… could’ve been better shot in a more productive way… new angle mostly. other than that very “out of the box” stuff

Annie and Markus flaunt at the Muyil Ruins

Contributed by Jeanie Ow of STUDIOjeanie

The couple, my assistant and I drove to a small, relatively unknown site for ruins called Muyil. It was the best location because there wre hardly any tourstis there. We practically had the whole place to ourselves. The day was quite overcast. Right after our session, the rain came down HARD. It was an awesome day!

Brett and Kristin flaunt in Tulum Mexico

Contributed by Erika & Ryan of Rowell Photography

The newlywed couple really wanted to do a trash the dress couples session the day after their wedding at the Gran Bahia Principe resort in Tulum Mexico. So with the entire wedding party, family and guests watching, along with about 400 random beach goers had their session in front of a crowd. It was the talk of the wedding.
